Mehbooba Mufti meets PM Modi, calls for talks between interlocutors & all stakeholders on Kashmir issue

Web Desk, 27 August, 2016:
This is the first meeting since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani which lead to current Kashmir crisis.
Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti met PM Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss the security situation in the state. She met the Prime Minister at his official residence, 7 RCR.
After the meeting, the CM addressed the media and spoke about the Centre's efforts on working towards a solution for the unrest in Kashmir.
"PM Modi, like all of us, is very concerned with the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti Saab used to say that Modi ji has two-third majority and if during his time the situation doesn't change then it will never change," she said.
"Pakistan has been openly trying to provoke and fuel tensions in the valley. I am glad that PM Modi not only invited Nawaz Sharif for his oath taking ceremony but also went to Lahore to meet him," she added, "But unfortunately, Pathankot attack happened later. Sadly, Pakistan has repeatedly wasted chances to talk and resolve issues."
Mufti also blamed Pakistan for interfering in Kashmir. "But these days Pakistan is trying to worsen the situation in Kashmir instead of helping us. Modi ji took an initiative, our HM took an initiative, they went to Pakistan, but now it's upto Pakistan to respond,"
This was the first meeting between the two after the unrest broke out in the valley last month following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen leader Burhan Wani.
