Pobitora opens for tourists

Web Desk, 02 October, 2016: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, which has the highest density of rhinos in the world, opened on Saturday for both domestic and foreign tourists.

The sanctuary in Maorigaon district was formally opened for tourists by BJP's Jagiroad MLA Piyush Hazarika, forest officials said.

The sanctuary was completely inundated by flood waters of the Brahmaputra in this year which affected seventy per cent of its infrastructure. However, several link roads to and from Pobitora have been repaired. The forest department expects more revenue from the tourists this year, the officials said.
