Police use tear gas to disperse BJP agitators near Manipur Assembly


Web Desk, 5 september, 2016: The police used tear gas to disperse a large number of BJP workers who tried to storm the Assembly in protest against the decision of the Congress government to cancel the recruitment of Manipur police Constables.
Another group, belonging to the women and student wings of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, also tried to storm the Assembly complex demanding introduction of the proposed Inner Line Permit System bill in the current session.
Curfew has been imposed within a one km radius of the Manipur Assembly complex till the end of the session today in view of the agitatons. The police blocked the protestors outside the curfew- bound areas at various points in the state capital Imphal.
