Assam girl Shusmita Neog from Bahona Kamar Gaon from Jorhat district in Upper Assam created history by breaking the 50 year long record by managing to score 91.8 % in her master Geography exam 2015-16 from Delhi Schools of Economics under Delhi University. This broke the record of Dr Rakha Tullah Khan who scored 79 % 50 years ago. The results were declared in the last week of June, 2016.
Shusmita Neog, daughter of Horesh Neog, a social worker off Jorhat- Kamar Goan, Bahona and Manju Neog, who is the Headmistress of Kalyani High School, Kalyani stated that their only girl-child Shusmita was a mediocre at her studies, but was very hard working.
Assam girl Shusmita, said while talking to the correspondent at her residence at Kamar Goan Village, in Bahona under Jorhat district here today that she would pursue her higher studies in disability at an overseas university.
Shusmita who achieved her dreams reaching the top is known to be a girl of multi-talents. She not only brought pride to the institutions where she studied but she brought pride and laurels to the entire Geography lovers, said Dr. RB Singh, Head, department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics. Dr. Singh also informed that Shusmita is a girl with high aim, a girl with pure mind and a loveable heart. She is helpful to everyone and she is sweet little girl for everyone among her friends.
Shusmita scored 83.6% in her BA examination from Miranda House, under Delhi University and joined Delhi School of Economics for her post-graduation. She has topped in Delhi University since her graduation. Recently she was invited to attend seminars in Thailand, Spain, Port Blair, Hong Kong, Canada, London and to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She was excellent in giving her speech on all the topics respectively, and work for the internship was found very impressive as well as expressive on remote sensing, stated Major Gen. While talking to the correspondent, Shusmita said she is proud today to have her lovely family with parents, uncle, aunts and cousins for whom she got everything since her childhood days.
Shusmita Neog (who is presently working as an assistant Professor of Miranda House, New Delhi) said that after her compilation of PhD Degree from an overseas university, she would sit for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and would stress for the society to help the disables, as she has been pursuing her study with special papers for the blind.
